Medicare Fraudster Backs ‘Sound of Freedom’

  • “Sound of Freedom,” a movie shedding light on the issue of child sex trafficking, has achieved significant success at the box office.
  • Actor Jim Caviezel, who stars in the film, has expressed beliefs aligned with QAnon conspiracy theories, particularly regarding blood harvesting.
  • One of the movie’s executive producers has admitted guilt in a $89 million Medicare fraud case in 2020.

“Sound of Freedom” has emerged as a surprise hit at the box office. However, it has faced criticism due to its association with an executive producer who was involved in an $89 million Medicare fraud scheme. The film also drew attention because its star, Jim Caviezel, has expressed beliefs linked to QAnon and the conspiracy theory of blood harvesting.

The movie centers around Operation Underground Railroad (OUR), a controversial anti-trafficking nonprofit, which has stated that it has no connection to QAnon. Despite this, Caviezel made claims at a 2021 event that align with QAnon conspiracy theories about children being used for adrenaline harvesting. Tim Ballard, the founder of OUR, denied any links to QAnon.

In a recent interview with Jordan Peterson, Ballard made statements about a raid he conducted on a West African “baby factory,” echoing myths spread by the QAnon movement. Operation Underground Railroad has since distanced itself from Ballard.

The movie’s executive producer, Andrew McCubbins, is currently awaiting sentencing for his involvement in the Medicare fraud case. Although he described his role in the film as minor, McCubbins invested a significant amount in Operation Underground Railroad. However, he claims that none of the proceeds from his fraudulent activities went into the movie.

Operation Underground Railroad’s credibility and effectiveness in combating human trafficking have been called into question by various sources, including media, trafficking experts, and law enforcement. Investigations by the FBI, IRS, and Department of Homeland Security have been initiated, examining allegations of sexual exploitation and the creation of trafficking demand by the organization.
