Manhunt Underway for Suspect in Baltimore Tech CEO Killing: Unveiling the Details of Pava LaPere’s Tragic Death

After the CEO of a Baltimore tech start-up was tragically discovered deceased in her apartment, local law enforcement announced on Tuesday that they are conducting a citywide manhunt for an armed and highly dangerous suspect. Pava LaPere, a 26-year-old entrepreneur who founded EcoMap Technologies and was recognized on Forbes’ prestigious 30 Under 30 list for social impact, was found dead on Monday morning with severe head injuries, according to Baltimore police. The authorities responded to a missing-person call shortly before the discovery of her body.

On Tuesday, city officials revealed that an arrest warrant has been issued for Jason Dean Billingsley, a 32-year-old individual who now faces first-degree murder charges in connection with LaPere’s untimely death. Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott made it known that Billingsley, a registered sex offender, was recently released from prison and is considered “extremely dangerous” and armed. Acting Baltimore police commissioner Richard Worley urged residents to be cautious and vigilant at all times, emphasizing that Billingsley poses a grave threat to public safety.

While police have determined that LaPere and Billingsley did not know each other, it is unclear how they managed to identify Billingsley as a suspect. Worley mentioned that LaPere’s apartment complex had security measures in place that would have required someone to grant the suspect access. As of now, the Baltimore police spokesperson has not furnished any further comments on the matter.

Billingsley, who also faces charges of assault and reckless endangerment, has a history of violent crimes dating back to 2009, 2011, and 2015, including a previous sex offense, according to city officials. In 2015, he pleaded guilty to a first-degree sex offense and received a 30-year prison sentence with 14 years suspended.
