Manchester United Teammates Rally to Urge Jadon Sancho’s Apology or Potential Exit

Jadon Sancho has received a strong recommendation from senior members of the Manchester United squad urging him to apologize to Erik ten Hag. Failure to do so would result in him being made available for transfer in January.

On September 3rd, Sancho was excluded from the squad for the 3-1 defeat at Arsenal. Ten Hag stated that it was due to Sancho’s failure to meet the required standards in training. Shortly after, Sancho took to social media to criticize the manager’s explanation, calling it “completely untrue.”

In addition to the players’ advice, members of the United hierarchy have also spoken with Sancho and emphasized that an apology to Ten Hag is the only way to resolve the situation. Currently, Sancho has been training with the under-18s and has to change alone due to safeguarding regulations.

United had been working with Sancho on improving his behavior even before he was dropped for the Arsenal game. Ten Hag is willing to reintegrate Sancho into the first-team squad if he receives an apology, despite the time that has passed. However, if no apology is given, United is prepared to sell or loan the player, who was signed from Borussia Dortmund for £73m in July 2021.

Following the Arsenal game, Ten Hag explained, “Jadon, on his performances in training we did not select him. You have to reach a level every day at Manchester United and we can make choices in the front line. So for this game he was not selected.”

Sancho responded with a statement on social media that he later deleted. He wrote, “Please don’t believe everything you read! I will not allow people saying things that is completely untrue, I have conducted myself in training very well this week. I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won’t go into, I’ve been a scapegoat for a long time which isn’t fair!”
