June 27 (UPI) — A remarkable incident unfolded when a man chose to endure an astonishing 18-hour delay while waiting for his flight from Oklahoma to North Carolina. In the end, he became the sole passenger on the plane and enjoyed a VIP treatment.
Phil Stringer, a resident of the Greensboro, N.C. area, patiently waited for 17 hours and 52 minutes before finally boarding his flight from Oklahoma City to Charlotte.
As time passed, Stringer realized that all the other passengers had either taken alternative flights or abandoned the delayed plane, leaving him as the lone traveler.
In a humorous video posted on TikTok, Stringer jokingly claimed that he had bought out all the seats on the plane to avoid dealing with other people.
Despite the arduous wait, Stringer reported that the plane’s crew maintained good spirits throughout the ordeal.
“They had to be called; they were at their hotel, ready to go to bed,” Stringer shared in an interview with WSOC-TV. “I felt so guilty because I realized that they had to come back solely for me.”
During the flight, Stringer formed a bond with the crew, indulging in jokes and laughter. They even exchanged phone numbers and continue to maintain contact through text messages and group chats.
