Man Allegedly Armed with Knife Shot by Officers in Highland Park

In an incident in Highland Park, Los Angeles, officers have successfully injured a suspect armed with a knife after he threatened to harm someone while claiming to possess a gun.

The Los Angeles Police Department received a report of an assault with a deadly weapon at approximately 12:25 p.m. The incident occurred in the 800 block of North Nolden Street, near York Boulevard and Avenue 56.

Upon their arrival, the officers encountered the suspect in a stairwell. The suspect was brandishing a large knife and moving towards them aggressively. As a result, an officer-involved shooting took place.

The suspect sustained gunshot wounds, prompting the officers to provide immediate first aid while an ambulance was requested. Paramedics from the Los Angeles City Fire arrived, transporting the suspect to a local hospital.

The suspect, a 51-year-old man, remained stable and was expected to recover. Thankfully, neither officers nor bystanders incurred any injuries. Furthermore, a large kitchen knife was found at the scene.

Due to the ongoing investigation of the shooting, the streets in the vicinity of York Boulevard and Avenue 56 will remain closed to traffic for several hours.
