Man Accused of Firing at Occupied Vehicles Faces Criminal Charges

Felony charges have been filed against a 26-year-old Indio man who allegedly shot at multiple occupied vehicles in Rancho Mirage, resulting in the injury of at least one person.

Adrian Fuentes, the suspect, has been charged with three counts each of shooting at a dwelling and assault with a firearm, as well as one count each of being a convicted felon and narcotic addict in possession of a firearm and possessing ammunition. Court records also indicate that he faces several sentence-enhancing firearm allegations.

Fuentes was scheduled to be arraigned at the Larson Justice Center in Indio on Wednesday afternoon.

According to Sgt. Daniel Milbrandt of the Riverside County Sheriff Department, deputies responded to a report of shots fired at several occupied vehicles around 2:50 p.m. on July 13 at the intersection of Bob Hope and Casino Way in Rancho Mirage.

“Upon arrival, deputies discovered that two vehicles were struck by gunfire, and one of the occupants sustained minor injuries,” said Milbrandt in a statement. “The victim received treatment at the scene and was released by medical personnel.”

A third victim, who was unharmed, also reported that their vehicle was hit by gunfire. The suspect’s vehicle, described as a newer red sedan, fled northbound on Bob Hope Drive.

The investigation into the incident was taken over by the Palm Desert sheriff’s station’s Investigation’s Bureau. They identified Adrian Fuentes as the shooting suspect and subsequently arrested him on Monday afternoon. Fuentes is currently being held at the John J. Benoit Detention Center in Indio on $25,000 bail.
