Renowned actress Rosanna Arquette was involved in a car accident on Tuesday, crashing her vehicle into three pillars that support the roof of a popular Malibu restaurant, according to officials.
The incident occurred at the Point Dume Village shopping center, where Arquette, 63, was driving at the time of the crash. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the news to the New York Post.
A deputy from the Sheriff’s Office stated that it appeared Arquette may have lost control of her vehicle, as reported by Fox News.
Arquette, known for her role in the movie “Desperately Seeking Susan” alongside Madonna and her appearance in “Ray Donovan,” was taken to the hospital for precautionary measures, as reported by The Malibu Times.
Authorities stated that Arquette did not seem to be under the influence of any substance at the time of the incident, as per the New York Post.
According to LA County Fire Captain Mike Rivera, the accident occurred when Arquette attempted to park her vehicle, causing it to unexpectedly move forward instead of backward. The impact resulted in damage to three pillars supporting the roof of Lily’s Malibu restaurant. Nearby shops remained closed for several hours until the buildings were deemed secure by inspectors, Rivera added.
Fortunately, Arquette did not sustain any injuries in the accident.
Responding to the incident, Rivera mentioned that Arquette was understandably shaken up by what had happened.
