Los Angeles Welcomes Fourth Busload of Migrants from Texas Since June 14

Government agencies in Los Angeles are actively responding to the arrival of a busload of immigrants from Texas. This marks the fourth group to arrive at Union Station since June 14.

On Tuesday, a bus carrying migrants from Brownsville, Texas reached Union Station. This is the second such bus to arrive within six days, according to Mayor Karen Bass’ office.

“Earlier this year, the city established a plan in coordination with various departments, the county, nonprofit organizations, and faith partners,” stated Zach Seidl, Bass’ director of communications. “As soon as we learned of the bus’s arrival, we immediately implemented our plan.”

The bus arrived around 6:30 p.m., as confirmed by Seidl.

The L.A. Welcome Collective reported that the immigrants on the bus hailed from Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, and Venezuela. However, the exact number of individuals was not disclosed.

The L.A. Welcome Collective, consisting of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice, Central American Resource Center-Los Angeles, Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights, Esperanza Immigration Rights Project, and Immigrant Defenders Law Center, released a statement regarding the recent influx of immigrants into Los Angeles.

“The L.A. Welcomes Collective stands united with the City and County of Los Angeles to provide support and assistance to asylum seekers upon their arrival,” said the L.A. Welcome Collective. “We aim to serve as a beacon of hope and advocate for the fair treatment and respect of every individual, regardless of immigration status. As nonprofits dedicated to supporting immigrants and facilitating their integration into society, we are committed to making the most of our limited resources until the bus transportation of migrants ceases or until our nation finds a solution to the flaws in our immigration system.”
