Edmonton’s most prominent couple is tying the knot
Last Thursday, hockey superstar Connor McDavid proposed to his long-time girlfriend Lauren Kyle.
“I am overjoyed to spend the rest of our lives together,” Kyle announced the engagement on her Instagram post.
“Almost eight years of growth, happiness, and an abundance of love. We have so much to look forward to.”
McDavid, the 26-year-old captain of the Edmonton Oilers, and 27-year-old Kyle, an interior designer, have been together since they were 19.
“From the day we met, I knew you were the one. I’m excited for the beautiful life we’ll create together,” Kyle expressed her love.
Kyle moved to Edmonton after graduating from Ontario’s Toronto Metropolitan University in 2019. The couple shares their home in Edmonton’s Laurier Heights area, which was featured in Architectural Digest.
McDavid proposed in Muskoka, Ontario, where the couple is building a vacation home. Both of them grew up in Ontario.
“We’re currently celebrating a lot,” McDavid shared. “So much happening in our lives.”
McDavid also expressed his excitement on Instagram. “I’m thrilled for our future. You are the most loving, passionate, and amazing person. I’m a very lucky man,” he wrote, wishing Kyle a happy birthday.
“Here’s to many more together. Love you lots.”
