Live Bet Interrupted by Fan’s Attempt to Disrupt My Shot

Max Homa had a disruptive experience with betting at PGA Tour events. During the BMW Championship, a fan yelled in the middle of Homa’s 5-foot birdie putt. Homa was already struggling with short putts on a windy day at Olympia Fields. His frustration escalated when a drunk fan on the 17th hole yelled at him just after Chris Kirk missed his 18-foot birdie putt. Despite the distractions, Homa managed to make his 5-foot putt. As he walked off the green, he shouted and pointed at the disruptive fan.

According to Homa, the fan was cheering for him to miss his putt and had placed a $3 bet against him. At the crucial moment of Homa’s backstroke, the fan yelled loudly, “Pull it!” However, Homa remained focused and made the putt. He expressed his concerns about the disruption caused by gambling in golf, acknowledging that while he appreciates the ability for people to bet on the sport, it can interfere with players’ concentration. Homa referred to the fan as a clown and expressed annoyance at the incident.

Homa emphasized the importance of staying focused despite such disruptions and praised the majority of fans who are respectful and quiet during play. He found it particularly frustrating that one intentional disruptive fan can spoil the experience for others. Homa jokingly added that he hopes the disruptive fan had to immediately pay his friend the $3 he wagered against Homa’s putt.
