Retired NBA star Lamar Odom was involved in another car crash last week. WFMZ reports that the accident occurred in Los Angeles around 3:00 a.m. on Monday. Fortunately, Odom is currently in good health. According to his spokesperson, the crash happened when Odom’s phone fell and he reached to pick it up, causing him to lose control of the vehicle.
As a result, he collided with a parked car, which then struck another parked car. Fortunately, no one was inside the parked cars. While the exact speed of the collision is unknown, it was enough to trigger all three of Odom’s airbags and leave him a little shaken up.
When the police arrived at the scene, they questioned Odom about his sobriety due to his past issues with substance abuse. However, Odom claimed he was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs and the police did not conduct a sobriety test, choosing to take his word for it.
This incident serves as a reminder to avoid using your phone while driving. Even if it falls, it is safer to pull over and retrieve it rather than attempting to do so while driving. Odom’s recent crash is not the first time a phone-related incident has occurred in his life. In 2011, his driver caused an accident that resulted in the death of a teenager while attempting to hand Odom a phone.
