The lawsuit named Rajakovic, player development coach Noah Lewis, the Raptors’ parent organization, and the former Knicks employee Ikechukwu Azotam. Additionally, 10 unknown Raptors employees who allegedly obtained Knicks proprietary information were cited in the filing.
Azotam, who worked for the Knicks as a video, analytics, and player development assistant from October 2020 to mid-August, is accused of secretly emailing a significant amount of scouting reports, play frequency reports, and other preparatory material, as well as a link to New York’s subscription with Synergy, to the Raptors.
According to the lawsuit, Azotam shared a total of 3,358 video files, and the Raptors accessed the file share site over 2,000 times.
The Knicks alleged that Rajakovic and the Raptors began recruiting Azotam in June and utilized him as a mole within the Knicks organization to misappropriate their confidential and proprietary data.
According to the Knicks, Azotam’s last day of employment was August 14, and the theft of data was discovered the following day.
Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, the Raptors’ parent organization, released a statement denying any involvement in the alleged matters and expressed their intention to conduct an internal investigation and cooperate fully.
The Knicks did not inform Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment about the impending lawsuit, according to the latter corporation.
