TORONTO — Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, announced on Wednesday that they are separating after 18 years of marriage.

“After engaging in meaningful and difficult conversations, we have come to the decision to separate,” they shared in separate but identical statements posted on social media. “Despite the separation, we continue to be a close-knit family, filled with love and respect for each other and the life we have built and will continue to build.”
