Jonathan Hunter has departed from WNYT after a two-year tenure at the station. He announced his move on social media earlier this month.

“After living and working in upstate New York, I’m pleased to announce that I’m back home,” wrote Hunter. “I am also the newest reporter in Baltimore, where I work at WMAR. Feel free to watch me on TV on channel 2.”

Hunter came to NewsChannel13 from Rochester.

When Hunter was featured in a “20 things you don’t know about me” segment earlier this year, he shared his pride in his strong work ethic and his reputation as a jokester. Hunter’s humor regularly brings laughter to his colleagues in the newsroom.

He received a high five from his new on-air team on his first night at the Baltimore-based set. They were delighted to welcome a local reporter to the station.

Hunter is the fifth broadcast media personality to leave their station in 2023. Earlier this year, Anne McCloy departed from CBS6 Albany, Harrison Grubb announced his departure from News10ABC after two years, and Jaclyn Cangro also announced her departure from Spectrum. Neal Estano, a meteorologist at WNYT, said farewell to NewsChannel13 viewers in February.

In 2022, a total of 25 individuals left their on-air media roles based in the Capital Region.
