Jimmy Buffett, the legendary musician and creator of the Margaritaville chain, has passed away at the age of 76.

Buffett, born in 1946, rose to prominence as one of the most well-known musicians over the past five decades. His breakthrough success came with the release of his seventh studio album, “Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes,” in 1977, which featured his iconic hit “Margaritaville.”

His influence spanned beyond the realm of music. In 1985, Buffett launched his first Margaritaville Cafe in Key West, Florida. Today, the chain comprises over 60 restaurants and bars, along with 20 hotels and resorts, as stated on their website.

In 2023, Forbes recognized Buffett as a billionaire, attributing his wealth to various sources such as his $180 million stake in Margaritaville, an estimated $570 million from touring and recording, $140 million in real estate and transportation, a $50 million music catalog, and holdings in Berkshire Hathaway, a company chaired by Warren Buffet. Although sharing a last name, the two individuals are not related.

Fans of Buffett, known as “Parrotheads,” have begun paying tribute to the iconic musician on his social media accounts.

An Instagram post announcing Buffett’s passing has garnered approximately 17,000 likes and nearly 1,900 comments.

“There will only be one Jimmy Buffett,” expressed one devoted fan. “He is now in Heaven, strumming his guitar and singing his timeless melodies.”

“Sending love to all his family, friends, and fellow Parrotheads. This loss deeply affects us,” commented another.
