The prince expressed hope that a breakthrough in the peace process is within reach, stating that they are watching it unfold for the first time. He referred to the potential agreement as the most significant historical deal since the end of the Cold War, emphasizing that its success depends on the fair treatment of Palestinians. He assured that Saudi Arabia is willing to cooperate with Israel, regardless of who is in charge.
When pressed for specifics regarding the Palestinians’ demands, the prince did not provide details. Netanyahu acknowledged the importance of involving the Palestinians in the peace process but asserted that they should not have veto power over it.
“For the past 25 years, we have not been able to secure any new peace treaties with other nations after establishing peace with Egypt and Jordan. This was mainly because everyone insisted that we must first satisfy all the demands made by the Palestinians,” Netanyahu explained to Baier. “But here’s the dilemma: The Palestinians do not desire peace with Israel.”
