Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu Released From Hospital

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was released from the hospital on Sunday after undergoing check-ups and monitoring following a dizzy spell experienced the previous day. The 73-year-old leader had been admitted to Sheba Medical Center after experiencing mild dizziness, but his test results came back normal, and he reported feeling “very good.”

Sheba Medical Center reported that Netanyahu’s condition was excellent after a series of tests, including cardiovascular assessments. To closely monitor his heart activity, a subcutaneous Holter monitoring device was implanted under his skin. While the hospital did not provide further details about the device, it stated that it was a routine measure for monitoring purposes.

Notably, Netanyahu had spent the previous day at the Sea of Galilee, a popular vacation destination in northern Israel, where temperatures were soaring due to a severe heatwave. Dehydration was initially suspected after a series of tests were conducted.

During his hospital stay, Netanyahu shared a video on social media explaining that he had been in the sun without a hat and water, admitting that it was not a good idea. Doctors ordered him to remain in the hospital overnight for further observation, leading to the rescheduling of his weekly Cabinet meeting to Monday.

As Israel’s longest-serving leader, Netanyahu faces numerous challenges. He is currently on trial for multiple corruption charges, which have deeply divided the nation. Additionally, his government’s approach towards Palestinians has drawn international criticism and strained relations with the United States, a crucial ally.

Domestically, tens of thousands of Israelis have been participating in weekly demonstrations against Netanyahu’s government, protesting his proposed overhaul of the country’s judiciary. Supporters believe the plan is necessary to limit the power of unelected judges, while opponents argue that it threatens the country’s system of checks and balances.
