Israeli Army Reveals Discovery of 55-Metre Tunnel Under Gaza’s al-Shifa Hospital | Latest on Israel-Palestine Conflict

The Israeli army has released a video showing a tunnel allegedly dug under the al-Shifa Hospital in northern Gaza. It is said to be 55 meters long and 10 meters deep, and was found alongside a vehicle containing weapons such as RPGs, explosives, and Kalashnikov rifles. The army claims that the tunnel has a blast-proof door and a firing hole.

According to military spokesman Daniel Hagari, the tunnel entrance was discovered when an outside wall of the hospital complex was knocked down, revealing a fortified shaft with a staircase descending 10 meters. The Israeli army has made the hospital a focal point of its operations, believing it to harbor a Hamas command center, although this claim is disputed by Hamas and hospital staff.

The army also stated that a captive Israeli soldier was executed and two foreign captives held at the hospital, and that they are searching for over 200 people kidnapped by Hamas. This has sparked international outcry, with the World Health Organization describing it as a “death zone”.
