Irvine Police Make Arrest in Case of Sexual Battery Against Woman

A 23-year-old individual from Beaumont has been apprehended on Wednesday in connection with the sexual battery of a woman in Irvine. The assault, which was captured on surveillance video, involved the suspect approaching the victim from behind and groping her. The Irvine Police Department has confirmed that Brandon Dybdahl was arrested in Laguna Hills and was found to be in possession of a white sedan, matching the vehicle seen in the surveillance footage.

Dybdahl is currently facing charges of sexual battery and false imprisonment. He is a transient who had been staying with family friends, who were unaware of his alleged involvement in the attack, as they were trying to provide him with some assistance, according to Sergeant Karie Davies.

The police released the surveillance video earlier this week, which shows an individual wearing a T-shirt and shorts exiting a white vehicle and approaching the victim from behind as she was crossing the street. After a brief struggle, the suspect flees and reenters the car, described by the police as a white Nissan Sentra manufactured between 2006 and 2012.

Sgt. Karie Davies also revealed that Dybdahl has an outstanding warrant for a hit-and-run collision.
