German authorities are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a young boy whose body was discovered in the Danube River over a year ago. The body, believed to be that of a 5 to 6-year-old boy, was found on May 19, 2022 near Grossmehring in Bavaria. INTERPOL has circulated a global alert, known as a Black Notice, to all 195 member countries, providing facial reconstruction images and physical characteristics of the boy. Investigators are determined to uncover the circumstances surrounding his death and are urging the law enforcement community to cross-reference their databases and consult unsolved cases. INTERPOL Secretary General Jürgen Stock emphasized the importance of releasing certain details publicly, as someone may have crucial information related to the boy’s identity and the events leading to his demise. The authorities believe that the boy may have spent time outside of Germany. They are committed to leveraging all of INTERPOL’s resources to identify him and provide answers about his tragic fate.
The boy was approximately 3 feet, 7 inches tall and weighed around 33 pounds. He had brown hair and blood type O. The flagstone slab used to weigh down his body was identified as a “Natura Vigo” paving stone made by German manufacturer Diephaus, according to INTERPOL.
Authorities are urging anyone with relevant information to contact the national police team in Germany, particularly if they have knowledge about a missing child who shares similarities with the boy found in the Danube. German police can collaborate with INTERPOL to conduct DNA comparisons for individuals who believe they may be related to the boy.
