Insightful observation: Tuberville suggests Democrats had a hand in sparking conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza

Senator (R-Ala.) has caused a stalemate in the Senate by holding up over 360 military promotions. In a surprising claim, he stated that Democrats were responsible for the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East.

“Instead of circumventing the rules in the Senate, Democrats should be concerned about the situations in Ukraine and the Middle East, which were created by their own party and ,” Tuberville told Newsmax’s Bianca de la Garza on Friday.

Democrats are now considering a standing order resolution to address the issue and move forward with more than 300 stalled military nominees affected by Tuberville’s protest against the Department of Defense’s abortion policies.

This resolution, if passed with strong bipartisan support, would enable the Senate to advance the promotions through the end of 2024. However, it would first need to pass through the Senate Rules Committee.

Tuberville’s opposition to the DOD policy stems from its provision to cover travel expenses for service members seeking abortions. Some Republicans are supporting his protest.

Tuberville is concerned that the resolution would strip away the limited power he possesses as a minority member in the Senate.

“As a member of the minority, the only power you have is to place holds on certain issues to get the attention of the opposite side, regardless of whether they belong to the Republican or Democratic party,” he explained.

Tuberville is insisting on a vote regarding the policy, stating that the decision should align with the will of the American people.

The resolution, introduced by Senator Kyrsten Sinema (I-Ariz.), would require substantial bipartisan support and at least 60 votes to overcome an expected filibuster.

Any Republican senator who sides with Democrats on this issue may face significant political backlash.

The resolution is already facing strong opposition from conservative members within the GOP conference, making it difficult for Democrats to secure the nine votes needed for it to pass. Tuberville accused Democrats, along with President Biden, of “playing dictator from the White House.”

“This administration has caused chaos both domestically and internationally,” Tuberville asserted. “It’s been a disaster.”
