The prosecution argued that Saqib Hussain had threatened to expose his affair with Ansreen Bukhari, which led to their meeting in a grocery store’s parking lot. The meeting was a pretense to return money that Saqib had spent during the affair.
During a distressing phone call to the police, Saqib Hussain pleaded for help as he was being pursued and forced off the road. Both Saqib Hussain and Hashim Ijazuddin tragically lost their lives in the incident.
Mahek Bukhari has been sentenced to a minimum of 31 years and eight months in prison, while Ansreen Bukhari has been sentenced to a minimum of 26 years and nine months. The two drivers involved in the chase also received lengthy prison sentences.
Mahek Bukhari’s lawyer has stated that they will be seeking permission to appeal the conviction.
