Ina Garten’s Facebook Account Compromised: Unauthorized Post Sharing Olive Garden Recipe

The Facebook page of esteemed chef Ina Garten, known as the Barefoot Contessa, fell victim to hacking last week, causing quite a stir. Instead of finding recipes for her famous “engagement chicken” or roasted vegetable lasagna, followers were greeted with instructions for a copycat Olive Garden chicken scampi. The intrusion was brought to attention when Twitter user Emily Pressman shared a screenshot of the hacked page, showcasing the enticing pasta dish labeled as an “Olive Garden copycat recipe.” Pressman humorously remarked, “How you know Ina Garten’s Facebook account has been hacked: instead of being her Hamptons-dwelling, Cosmo-sipping, ‘good olive oil’ using self, she’s suddenly become your Jell-o salad-making great-aunt from Iowa who’s always posting Olive Garden copycat recipes. (Ahem, @Meta…).” Garten promptly addressed the issue in a statement, expressing gratitude to her fans for alerting her to the breach. She assured them that she will continue sharing her beloved recipes and appreciating their valuable comments. Fans on Facebook were relieved to see her response. One chef commented, “I knew something was up. It was all good posts though. Once I saw that profile pic changed to pie, I’m like dam they got her.” Another user cheered, “Hooray! Thank you for getting that fixed! I was really concerned!” Garten’s representatives were approached for further comment by The Post. Garten, renowned for her cooking show “Barefoot Contessa,” has been a mainstay on the Food Network since 2002, when she began hosting the show from her East Hampton residence. She has garnered widespread acclaim, earning five Daytime Emmy Awards for her series. Interestingly, despite the hack, it seems that Garten does not have a recipe for chicken scampi on her official Barefoot Contessa website. However, she does offer a beginner-level linguine with shrimp scampi recipe that serves six and requires two pounds of large shrimp and the grated zest of one lemon. Despite her culinary success, Garten humbly admitted to Page Six last year that she is not a confident cook. She acknowledged that cooking is challenging for her, and she often worries about preparing meals for even just four people. However, she credited her husband, Jeffrey, for helping her gain confidence in the kitchen over time. Garten stated, “Jeffrey says if it wasn’t hard, I wouldn’t think it was interesting. So that part of it, I like. I like the challenge of it.” Garten and Jeffrey have been married since 1968, and he frequently makes appearances on her Food Network program.
