Outsourcing giant Serco has experienced a significant boost in profits, with £804 million coming from government spending on immigration and justice services in the first half of the year.

The company saw a 90.5% increase in UK and European immigration and justice sales, reaching about £621 million. This strong performance contributed to a 9% year-on-year increase in underlying operating profit, amounting to £148 million for the six months ending June 30.

While Asia Pacific saw a 9.2% decline, the surge in demand in the UK and Europe offset it, resulting in an overall revenue increase of 11% to nearly £2.5 billion.
