Ian Happ hit by pitch leads to ejection of Cardinals’ Miles Mikolas

St. Louis was filled with tension on Thursday evening as a captivating baseball game unfolded at Busch Stadium. The chaos began in the first inning when Cardinals pitcher Miles Mikolas faced off against Cubs outfielder Ian Happ. Happ’s at-bat took a shocking turn when his swing accidentally hit the head of Cardinals catcher Willson Contreras.

Contreras immediately fell to the ground, prompting the Cardinals’ training staff to rush to his aid. After careful evaluation, Contreras was unable to continue playing and was replaced by Andrew Knizner. Mikolas, visibly upset at the injury his teammate sustained, threw a high and inside fastball that narrowly missed Happ.

In an unexpected twist, home plate umpire Ryan Additon decided to eject Mikolas from the game without warning. Despite Mikolas’ protests, he was forced to leave the field, but not before voicing his frustration towards the Cubs’ dugout. The intensity escalated further when Cardinals manager Oli Marmol was also ejected from the game.

Although both teams were below .500, their long-standing rivalry provided an exhilarating spectacle for the fans in attendance.
