Hyundai Motor India Elevates Safety Standards: All Vehicles Now Equipped with 6 Airbags

Hyundai Motor India has taken a significant step towards prioritizing safety by announcing that all its models in the country will now come equipped with six airbags as standard. Alongside this, the automaker has also opted for voluntary participation in the recently introduced Bharat NCAP, starting with three models and planning to include more in the future.

The Bharat NCAP program allows car manufacturers to voluntarily submit their vehicles for testing according to the Automotive Industry Standard (AIS) 197. Based on the performance of the cars in these tests, they will be awarded star ratings ranging from 0-5 for adult occupants (AOP) and child occupants (COP).

Potential car buyers can refer to these star ratings to compare the safety standards of different vehicles and make an informed purchase decision. Additionally, Hyundai Motor India announced that its mid-sized sedan Verna has received a five-star rating for adult and child occupant protection from Global NCAP.

Hyundai Motor India’s Managing Director & CEO, Unsoo Kim, stated that safety for all is the company’s top priority. He mentioned, “We have always been pioneers in standardizing vehicle safety features, and we are delighted to now announce the standardization of six airbags across all models and variants.”

Tarun Garg, Hyundai Motor India’s COO, highlighted the importance of upgrading cars due to the increasing road network and higher speed limits. He said, “In our commitment to further enhance safety, we have decided to standardize six airbags in all models and variants.”

Furthermore, the automaker is also focusing on enhancing ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance System) and connected features throughout its entire product range, according to Garg.
