How Liberals in Power Leverage Mainstream Media for Enhanced Cover: Insights from Greg Gutfeld

You can now listen to Fox News articles! Happy Tuesday, everyone.

Democrat Congressman Jamaal Bowman is having quite the week, and it’s only Tuesday. Over the weekend, Bowman caused quite a stir when he pulled a fire alarm at the Capitol and claimed he didn’t know what it does. Now, I don’t want to accuse Bowman of knowing much, but the words “fire” and “alarm” are pretty self-explanatory. He even thought it would open a door. I wouldn’t want to fly with him; he’d think the plane’s emergency exit handle flushes the toilet. To make matters worse, his office distributed talking points to fellow Democrats, instructing them to deflect attention to supposed “Nazi” members of the Republican party. Talk about sounding the alarm! But hold on a second – a socialist Democrat accusing others of being Nazi, when the term Nazi itself comes from Nationalist Socialist Workers Party? That’s rich. It’s like the pot calling the kettle Hitler. But if you convince everyone that your opponents are Hitler, then you’re free to behave however you want, right? Just like they did with Trump. They called him the next Adolf, so rigging an election was a given. Not doing so would make you a Nazi sympathizer. But apparently, Jamaal Bowman didn’t realize he said all that. According to Jamaal Bowman himself. Is there anything this man doesn’t know? Don’t ask him; he doesn’t know. He recently released another statement clarifying the use of the term Nazi. He wants everyone to focus on actual Nazis and neo-Nazis, not just anyone he disagrees with. To sum it up: Bowman doesn’t know what a fire alarm does, his staff doesn’t know what a Nazi is, and all of them don’t seem to know the first rule when you find yourself in a hole – stop digging. At this rate, Bowman might wake up tomorrow in China. But of course, the media came to his rescue. By Monday, two out of the three major network news programs had already moved on from Bowman’s stunt. Only CBS covered it, but even they framed it as Republican accusations and repeated Bowman’s excuses.

Now, you would think an absurd event like this would be perfect material for comedy shows, right? Well, not quite. The late-night talk shows were back on air last night, but they mostly stuck to Trump jokes and a few jokes about Lauren Boebert. Material from two weeks ago. Jimmy Fallon, to his credit, avoided political humor altogether. Seth Meyers, unsurprisingly, went with variations of “Trump sucks.” If liberal compliance were a currency, Seth Meyers would be Jeff Bezos. Colbert focused mostly on Trump, with a few Bob Menendez and Taylor Swift jokes thrown in. And as for Kimmel? Mostly Trump jokes, a few about John Kennedy and Boebert. Sounds like the writers are back, but so are their restrictions. Joke about this, but not about that. It makes you miss the days when late-night hosts had some guts. But let’s not single out Bowman here. He’s just a product of his environment – the media environment. Being a liberal in power means knowing that the mainstream media will always provide more cover than one of Whoopi’s moomoos. That’s why Bowman can pull a fire alarm on camera, lie about it, and then lie about his lies. That’s why Joe Biden can claim to have never done anything illegal, immoral, or unethical, when the truth is far from it. That’s why his son can bring cocaine into the White House. That’s why the Clintons can treat Ukraine like their personal plaything. That’s why Bob Menendez can swim in a pile of gold like Scrooge McDuck. They’re all openly corrupt because they know they can get away with it, thanks to their comrades in the media who care more about power than anything else.

Now, this isn’t to say that Republicans aren’t fair game. Trump is fair game. People in power should be mocked and criticized. Unless you’re mocking and criticizing me – then I’m off-limits. I’ll unleash a team of hungry lawyers on you faster than you can say “Jacoby and Meyers.” But when late-night hosts only go after one side of the aisle, it’s clear that they’re not speaking truth to power. They’re not even doing comedy. They’re just political activists with a house band. So, when liberals accuse me of being one-sided, I don’t really care. This show is up against every other late-night show in America. They’re all doing Trump jokes, so why should I? In the words of William F. Buckley, liberals want to hear other views until they actually discover there are other views. Or maybe I said that. It’s hard to remember since I started adding NyQuil to my protein shakes. But here’s a deal for those other late-night guys – I’ll start slamming Republicans when they start slamming Democrats. But let’s face it, the minute they do that, someone’s going to pull a fire alarm.
