Travis Scott, a rapper from the Houston area, has recently announced his upcoming Utopia-Circus Maximus tour, which will take place in 28 cities across the United States and Canada from Oct. 11-Dec. 29. However, to the surprise of many, Houston is not included in the tour dates. This comes after Scott faced criticism and scrutiny following the tragic incident at his Astroworld Festival concert in 2021, where 10 people lost their lives.

Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner had previously mentioned that Scott’s tour would feature an October date at Toyota Center in Houston. However, the singer’s hometown was notably absent from the schedule that was released on Tuesday. The only Texas stops on the tour will be in Dallas on Oct. 17 and Austin on Nov. 21.

When Turner initially announced Scott’s performance in Houston, the Houston Police Officers’ Union expressed disbelief at the decision, calling upon elected officials to prevent the concert from taking place. This was in light of the tragedy that occurred at the Astroworld Festival.

Scott’s latest album, “Utopia,” was released on July 28, the same day that the Houston Police Department shared its 1,266-page report on the investigation of the 2021 concert incident. Although Scott and five other individuals were not indicted on criminal charges by a Harris County grand jury, numerous civil lawsuits have been filed against them and the event organizers, including Live Nation.

“Utopia” has dominated the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart for the past four weeks. It is the first rap album since Drake’s “Scorpion” in 2018 to achieve this feat. The album’s success is noteworthy considering the ongoing legal proceedings and public scrutiny surrounding its creator.

Tickets for Travis Scott’s upcoming concerts will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Thursday, and they can be purchased at travisscott.com.
