Home Depot Faces Lawsuit from Fast & Furious Actor

One of the stars of the beloved movie franchise, Fast & Furious, has filed a lawsuit against Home Depot, claiming racial discrimination. Tyrese Gibson alleges that he and his two companions experienced “outrageous discriminatory mistreatment and consumer racial profiling” at a store in West Hills, California, according to a report by People. In his legal complaint, Gibson explains that he initially entered the store with Eric Mora and Manuel Hernandez but had to return to his car due to fans recognizing him. He claims to have informed the cashier that Mora and Hernandez were authorized to use his credit card before leaving, but the cashier refused to process the transaction, citing store policy, even after Gibson returned to address the situation.

The lawsuit states, “The actions of the cashier and manager were discriminatory based on race and origin. There is no other logical explanation for the mistreatment of Plaintiffs. The transaction was refused, despite Gibson’s repeated authorizations, because of Plaintiffs’ skin color and, in the case of Mora and Hernandez, also because of their national origin.” The trio is demanding $1 million in damages. Home Depot released a statement acknowledging that it does not condone any form of discrimination and is actively trying to contact Gibson to address his concerns without admitting any wrongdoing on the part of its employee.
