Hollywood indie film ‘Asian Persuasion’ marks KC Concepcion’s return to acting

Actress KC Concepcion, who has ventured into the jewelry business, is making a comeback in the acting industry with the Hollywood indie film “Asian Persuasion.” Despite finding show business in the Philippines invasive, KC is grateful to be a part of it as acting is her way of leaving a mark. In the movie, she plays the lead role alongside Filipino American actors Dante Basco and Paolo Montalban, under the direction of Tony and Grammy winner Jhett Tolentino. “Asian Persuasion” will have its premiere at the 2023 Soho International Film Festival in New York. KC shares that her life has always been in the public eye, since her birth, and she didn’t have much of a choice in keeping her personal life private. She took a break from the entertainment industry and launched her own jewelry line called “Avec Moi by Kristina.” She also became a certified jeweler after completing three courses at the Gemological Institute of America. Despite growing up with famous parents, KC feels she still has a lot to learn and improve on as an artist. She never truly left show business and hopes to continue pursuing it. KC admits that she didn’t expect to take a longer break from showbiz, but she became busy with other ventures like her jewelry business. Starting her own jewelry line was something she always wanted to do, as she believes jewelry, glamor, and movies are interconnected. The opportunity to work on “Asian Persuasion” came about when she was in Los Angeles pursuing her gemology diploma. She received a call from Jhett with a script and her mom gave her blessing to do the project. KC immediately liked the material and was excited to work on an all-English film. “Asian Persuasion” tells the story of a chef who cooks up a scheme to marry off his ex-wife and avoid hefty alimony payments. KC shot the film in New York City for six months and enjoyed her time on set. She feels fortunate to have attended workshops and received training from ABS-CBN, as it helped her feel more confident alongside her talented castmates. KC encourages artists from the Philippines to believe in themselves and their abilities, as art is a universal expression that transcends race and language barriers. “Asian Persuasion,” with a budget of $2 million, will be released in the Philippines on November 29, following its premiere at the Soho International Film Festival.
