A Grammy-nominated gospel singer was on the verge of being removed from a Delta flight because she refused to stop performing her new single, claiming she was simply “doing what the Lord is telling me to do.”
Bobbi Storm, a 36-year-old artist from Detroit and a featured vocalist in the 2024 Grammy-nominated album “The Maverick Way” by the Christian group Maverick City Music, shared a video of her attempt to sing on the plane.
The Instagram clip shows her walking up the aisle and announcing to the passengers that she’s “charting right now on the Billboards” while a flight attendant asks her to “sit down and be quiet.”
Storm claims that “the seatbelt sign is off so it’s not a disturbance.” After sitting down, she informs the other passengers that she’s “up for two Grammys” for the very first time, and shares details about her new single called ‘We Can’t Forget Him,’ to a smattering of applause.
The video shows a confrontation where the crew member asks Storm to be quiet and she responds that the other passengers are “enjoying it,” but after an exchange, she finally agrees to comply with the flight attendant’s request to be silent.
Storm later claimed that Delta reached out to apologize and clarified that she didn’t intend for the flight attendant to be reprimanded or to lose his job over the incident.
Many social media users expressed disapproval over her actions and videos – some emphasizing that passengers must follow the flight crew’s instructions to ensure everyone’s safety during the flight.
