Gordon Ramsay has joined the frozen food industry, despite his previous negative stance on microwavable meals.
In an article published by People on August 24, it was announced that Ramsay will be launching his first line of frozen meals called “By Chef Ramsay,” which will be exclusively available at Walmart.
According to the official website of the collection, it consists of eight frozen entrees, each featuring Ramsay’s original recipes, ranging from lasagna to fish and chips.
Expressing his excitement, Ramsay said, “I’m elated to bring my favorite dishes into homes across the country. It thrills me that these dishes are so widely available for anyone to experience, and I hope they inspire the home chef in everyone.”
While many famous chefs, including Wolfgang Puck and Guy Fieri, also offer frozen meals, Ramsay’s decision is surprising considering his past comments about microwaves.

In an interview with Insider reporter Rachel Askinasi in December 2020, Ramsay expressed his disdain for microwaves, labeling them as tools for “lazy cooks.” He emphasized that no machine can replicate the texture, searing, and contrast achieved through pan cooking.
However, Ramsay acknowledged that microwaves can be useful for reheating meals or slightly warming them before broiling. Nonetheless, he believes that microwaves do not add any meaningful flavor to food.
When asked about the trend of microwaving turkeys during Thanksgiving, Ramsay exclaimed, “How do you expect to get flavor out of a turkey by microwaving it? Are you kidding me?”
Interestingly, Ramsay revealed that he doesn’t even own a microwave in his own kitchen.
A representative for Ramsay has not provided a comment on the matter.
