Georgia Grand Jurors: Trump Supporters Spread Information

On a fringe website known for featuring violent rhetoric, supporters of Donald Trump are circulating what they claim to be the personal information of Georgia grand jury members. This information includes their addresses, photos, and social media profiles. The names of the jurors were previously disclosed in the 98-page indictment of Trump and his co-defendants, but no further details were provided. CNN reveals that these names and addresses, some of which belong to individuals unrelated to the jurors, have spread across various platforms, ranging from major social media profiles to sites linked to violent extremist attacks.

The nonpartisan group Advance Democracy discovered these posts on the aforementioned fringe website, which NBC News has chosen not to name. Advance Democracy’s founder, former FBI investigator Daniel Jones, points out the disturbing trend of everyday citizens who play vital roles in our democracy becoming targets of violent threats from Trump-supporting extremists. The group also notes that Trump’s recent posts on Truth Social about election “riggers” have prompted his supporters to substitute this term for a racial slur.

In response to the news of the grand jury members, some commenters on a pro-Trump forum called for violence against them. One individual even claimed that the jurors had “signed their death warrant” by falsely indicting President Trump. Others suggested gathering outside the jurors’ homes. Fulton County DA Fani Willis, who is involved in the case, has also faced threats and racial abuse. Although Georgia law does not allow for the names of grand jurors to be kept confidential, some argue that the law should be changed to protect jurors in high-profile cases from harassment, as reported by The Washington Post. Former US attorney and FBI official Chuck Rosenberg emphasizes the need for Georgia to address this issue promptly, stating that transparency should not come at the expense of citizens’ safety.
