The price of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County continued its upward trend, reaching $5.172 per gallon on Thursday. This marks the 18th consecutive day of price increases, with the average price rising by 20 cents during this period. The current price is the highest it has been since November 24. Previously, there had been a brief period of price decreases, but that has now been overshadowed by the consecutive increases.
Compared to last week, the average price in Los Angeles County has increased by 4.2 cents, and it is now 21.4 cents higher than it was a month ago. However, despite these recent increases, the price remains 25.7 cents lower than it was a year ago. It has actually dropped significantly since October 5, when it reached a record high of $6.494 per gallon.
Similarly, in Orange County, the average price has risen for the 10th consecutive day and the 16th time in 17 days. Currently, it stands at $5.117 per gallon, the highest it has been since November 22. Over the past 17 days, the price has increased by 21.6 cents. Comparatively, the price is now 5 cents higher than last week and 21.6 cents higher than last month. However, it remains 18.7 cents lower than it was a year ago. Since October 5, it has dropped significantly from a record high of $6.459 per gallon.
On a national level, the average price of gasoline saw a slight increase, reaching $3.828 per gallon. The price has risen by 7 tenths of a cent compared to last week and is now 28.5 cents higher than last month. However, it is still 18.2 cents lower than it was a year ago.
It’s worth noting that the national average price has dropped significantly since June 14, 2022, when it reached a record high of $5.016 per gallon. Currently, it stands at $3.828 per gallon, representing a decrease of $1.188.
