Experience the ultimate fusion of art and entertainment at the Palm Springs Art Museum this summer with their free Cocktail Cinema film series. This bi-weekly event, taking place on Thursdays until July 27, will showcase four films with iconic soundtracks that perfectly capture their time and place. To enhance the experience, each film will be paired with a specially crafted cocktail prepared by That’s The Spirit Mobile Bar.
The series kicks off at 6 p.m. with a screening of the critically acclaimed movie “Queen and Slim” at the Palm Springs Art Museum located at 101 North Museum Drive. While entry will be on a first-come, first-served basis, attendees are required to register in advance at store.psmuseum.org/cocktail-cinema/.
“Queen and Slim” tells the powerful story of a young Black couple who are pulled over for a minor traffic violation after their first date, leading to a tragic incident involving a white police officer. The film’s incredible soundtrack pays homage to the history and diversity of Black music and celebrates the activism of artists who used their music as a form of protest.
To make the most of the evening, it is recommended that attendees arrive an hour early to purchase and savor the specialty drinks before settling in to watch the film. The series will continue with screenings of “Pulp Fiction” on June 29, “Moonlight” on July 13, and “Selena” on July 27.
The Cocktail Cinema film series is presented in partnership with the Palm Springs International Film Festival. Additionally, on Thursday nights from 5 to 8 p.m., visitors can enjoy free admission into the museum.
