Abrupt Closure of Salt Bae’s New York City Burger Joint

Salt Bae Burger, a relatively new restaurant that gained popularity through its charismatic founder, the Turkish butcher known as Salt Bae, has recently closed its doors. The Manhattan eatery, which opened in 2020 following Salt Bae’s success on the internet, has a sign on its door claiming that it is “moving to a new location” at 220 Park Ave. South. However, the supposed new location is actually the address of Nusr-Et Steakhouse, another restaurant owned by Salt Bae. The spokesperson for the brand clarified that the steakhouse will now be serving the burger joint’s menu.

Salt Bae Burger’s menu included unique items such as the Puf Puf, a marshmallow-heavy milkshake without ice cream, and a controversial pink veggie burger that was initially only free for women. Their signature dish, the Salt Bae Burger, was made with Wagyu meat and tasty toppings. However, the restaurant received negative reviews, with some calling it the “worst restaurant in NYC” due to its lack of charm and unfavorable taste. Despite this, the steakhouse will now adopt Salt Bae Burger’s menu.

This closure is not the first obstacle faced by Nusr-Et and its associated restaurants. The company has been involved in lawsuits related to sexual harassment and wage theft allegations. Former employees have compared working for the butcher to being in the “Hunger Games.” The steakhouse itself has also received harsh criticism.

As of now, Salt Bae has not commented on the closure of Salt Bae Burger.
