Actor Frederic Forrest, known for his roles in movies such as “Valley Girl,” “21 Jump Street,” “Apocalypse Now,” and “The Rose,” has passed away at the age of 86. The news was confirmed by his friend, actor Barry Primus, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

The cause of his death has not been disclosed, except that it occurred after a long illness. Tributes have poured in from his co-stars and fans, with Bette Midler, who worked with Forrest in “The Rose,” tweeting her condolences.

Frederic Forrest’s career included notable performances in movies like “Lonesome Dove,” “The Conversation,” “One from the Heart,” “Hammett,” “Tucker: The Man and His Dream,” and “Die Kinder.” He was married to Nancy Ann Whitaker from 1960 to 1963, and later to actress Marilu Henner from 1980 to 1983.
