Apple surprised everyone today by not releasing iOS 17.1 as expected. However, they did release an important update to TestFlight that addresses a specific issue affecting users who have already updated their devices to iOS 17.1 RC and iPadOS 17.1 RC.
TestFlight bug affecting iOS 17.1 users
The TestFlight 3.4.3 release notes indicate that this update fixes a bug that was preventing some users from redeeming codes to download beta apps on the platform. Specifically, the bug was affecting the latest version of iOS available to developers and beta testers. With the latest TestFlight update, this bug has been resolved.
“Specifically, an issue preventing users from accepting an invitation to test a beta app via redemption code was resolved,” states Apple in the release notes. “Testers on iOS 17.1, iPadOS 17.1, or later will need to use this latest version of TestFlight to accept an invitation via redemption code.”
If you’re not familiar, TestFlight is an Apple platform that allows developers to distribute their beta apps to users outside the App Store. Users can be invited to download a beta app via email, direct link, or by using a redemption code.

About a month ago, Apple initiated testing for iOS 17.1 beta. This update brings new features to the iPhone and iPad, including a new button to favorite songs and options to customize the artwork of a playlist in Apple Music.
iOS 17.1 also introduces a new option to turn off the display in StandBy mode after 20 seconds, enables AirDrop over cellular, and includes improvements to how the Action Button works on the iPhone 15 Pro.
Although Apple has not confirmed the release date for iOS 17.1, a French regulator disclosed that the update would be made available to the public today, which did not happen. However, considering that the Release Candidate (RC) build was released a few days ago, the update could become accessible to everyone at any moment.
