Filmic, the Popular iPhone Video App, Has Reportedly Laid Off Its Entire Team

Filmic, a popular video app for iPhone, is possibly facing an uncertain future as its parent company Bending Spoons lays off its entire team as reported by PetaPixel.

According to sources, the team at Filmic, which was acquired by Bending Spoons in 2022, has been laid off and the company’s founder and CEO Neill Barham departed in November as part of the reportedly massive layoffs.

There have been speculations about the future of the app as Bending Spoons’ website makes no mention of Filmic or its apps, and the company itself has not addressed the rumors. This sparks concerns about the app’s future.

Meanwhile, Blackmagic’s video and photography apps for iPhone have gained popularity, with Apple even using the Blackmagic Camera app to shoot its October special event entirely on iPhone 15 Pro Max as a substitute.
