New Philippine women’s football team coach Mark Torcaso arrived in Manila this week with the aim of preparing for the team’s next chapter and uncovering untapped talent. Torcaso expressed excitement about the abundance of talent in the country and his hope to discover young players for upcoming tournaments, such as the Asian Games. He emphasized the importance of developing these players as strong team players and fostering a supportive environment among the team members.
Developing Talent for International Competitions
During his initial days as coach, Torcaso will be working closely with the Filipinas and the U-17 team at Rizal Memorial Stadium. He will also immerse himself in the Filipino environment to gain a deeper understanding of the players and their culture. Torcaso’s upcoming responsibilities include leading the Filipinas in the Asian Games and the second round of the Olympic Qualifying Tournament. His assistant, Sinisa Cohadzic, will handle the squad for the AFC U-17 Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers in mid-September.
As Torcaso begins his journey as head coach, he is eager to tap into the immense potential of Filipina football players and guide them towards success on the international stage.
