An unfortunate incident occurred at a Burbank intersection when a speeding Dodge Challenger collided with another vehicle, resulting in the death of a 24-year-old woman who was a passenger in the Dodge.
According to Sergeant Stephen Turner of the Burbank Police Department, witnesses observed the Dodge accelerating through the intersection of Victory and Magnolia boulevards around 2:15 p.m. on Sunday. At that moment, a black Nissan SUV was completing a left turn in the eastbound direction. The Dodge struck a curb, as well as a traffic pole and power pole on the northeast corner of the intersection.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered Evonnie Nicole Caceres of Saugus in the passenger seat of the Dodge, sustaining significant injuries, said Turner. She was promptly transported to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
The male driver of the Dodge sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment, Turner added.
The driver of the Nissan, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, remained unhurt and remained at the scene to cooperate with the police. Additionally, a pedestrian in close proximity to the crash was struck by debris and was taken to a hospital. Fortunately, their injuries were not life-threatening, according to the police.
