A motorcyclist tragically lost his life after being dragged for over a quarter of a mile, trapped under the truck of a suspected drink driver.

Horrified witnesses desperately tried to get the driver’s attention by banging on the window, urging him to stop.

Meanwhile, others chased after the vehicle on foot, screaming at the driver, Nicholas Guaman, to halt.

The victim, Matthew Denice, 23, was still alive when he became trapped in the wheel arch of Guaman’s truck.

However, he succumbed to his injuries sustained from being dragged along the road.

Guaman, a 34-year-old illegal immigrant from Ecuador, displayed no emotion upon learning of the motorcyclist’s death.

He failed a breath test conducted by the police at the scene.

The horrific accident occurred as Guaman allegedly ran a red light in Milford, Massachusetts.

Not only did he hit Denice, but he also failed to stop as required.

Milford Police Sgt. Mike Pighetti stated, “Families grilling outside and sitting on their porches heard the crash and about a half dozen people chased the pick-up truck on foot and banged on the door trying to get the driver to stop.”

The victim’s body was dragged for over a quarter of a mile before Guaman veered off the road, causing the body to fall from the wheel arch.

Witnesses recounted that Guaman, who had his six-year-old son in the Ford pick-up truck, proceeded to reverse over the body.

Guaman attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended by the police.

According to Worcester County District Attorney spokesman Paul Jarvey, Denice was still alive when Guaman dragged him with his truck.

Denice had recently graduated from Framingham State University with a computer degree and had aspirations of working in law enforcement.

His mother, Maureen Maloney, expressed that her son had a bright future ahead of him.

When asked if she was angry, she responded, “I can’t have anger. I’m just so broken-hearted to not have my son.”

Denice’s stepfather, Michael Maloney, labeled the incident as “murder” and described Denice as a “great all-American kid.”

The family has called for Guaman to face prosecution in the US and receive a substantial sentence, rather than being deported.

Milford Police Chief Thomas O’Loughlin revealed that Guaman informed the police that he was in the country illegally. Homeland Security is conducting an investigation and has issued a detainer warrant, which will be activated upon completion of the court process.

If found guilty of the vehicular homicide charge, Guaman could face up to 15 years in jail.

According to court documents, Guaman has been charged with negligent vehicular homicide while driving under the influence of liquor, leaving the scene of an accident involving personal injury and death, possession of an open container of alcohol in a vehicle, failure to stop for police, unlicensed driving, failure to yield at a stop sign, resisting arrest, and wanton or reckless conduct creating risk to a child.
