In a Blind Audition, the choice of song is just as important as talent. Mara Justine had no doubt when she selected Elton John’s “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” – a choice that turned out to be pure magic. Her smoky rendition of the song captivated the coaches within seconds of her first notes.

Mara Justine immediately made the song her own, and that’s what caught the coaches’ attention. Coaches John Legend and Gwen Stefani hit their buzzers almost simultaneously when Justine sang the opening lines, “When are you gonna come down? When are you going to land?”

Legend was quick to express his admiration, “The thing that made me turn around so quickly was your tone in that lower part of the song. Then you had the finesse to do those really light touches. I would love to have you on Team Legend,” he said after the audition.

Justine managed to sing one more line, “I should have stayed on the farm,” before Reba McEntire’s chair turned towards the stage as well. And then, Niall Horan, returning from a victorious Season 23, held out until near the end of the first verse before he too couldn’t resist, resulting in the coveted Four-Chair Turn for Justine.

“God, they make them different in Jersey. Someone who’s willing to take on an Elton John song in the first round and sing it like that is extraordinary. If this is the standard you’ve set, what can we expect from you down the line? America is going to fall in love with your voice,” praised Horan, making his case for Justine to join his team.

Stefani, Horan, and McEntire also presented their arguments for why Justine should choose them. It’s a tough decision for Justine, but who will she pick? Tune in to The Voice on Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC, or watch it the next day on Peacock to find out!
