Exemplary Performance: Saint Rose Sensation Mia Klammer Earns Division II Player of the Week Recognition

Saint Rose standout Mia Klammer’s first week of October was a dream come true for most soccer players. After an impressive performance in September with four goals and five assists, Klammer continued her dominance by scoring seven goals and providing one assist in just two games.

In a shutout victory over Assumption on October 3rd, Klammer displayed her talent by scoring all three goals for the No. 3 ranked Golden Knights. She followed up this incredible performance with four goals and one assist in a 7-2 win over No. 23 Saint Anselm, helping Saint Rose maintain their undefeated record of 11-0 overall and 6-0 in the Northeast-10 Conference.

“I had a rough start in the NE-10, but these two games have given me a lot of confidence,” said Klammer.

Klammer’s outstanding performance earned her the title of Division II Women’s College Player of the Week. She now leads the NE-10 in goals (11), assists (6), and points (28).

Saint Rose coach Laurie Darling Gutheil described Klammer as a tremendous game changer with the ability to make a difference in various ways. Klammer credits her teammates for her success and considers being nominated for Player of the Week a privilege.

In the game against Assumption, Klammer showed her soccer instincts by being in the right place at the right time for each of her three goals. Her teammates Sydney Meyers and Jada Brown provided excellent crosses for her first two goals, both scored with headers. She completed her hat trick by seizing on a rebound.

Against Saint Anselm, Klammer continued to impress with her offensive skills. Her first goal came from redirecting a corner kick by Elina Seppala. Her second goal showcased her agility as she moved past a defender and scored from outside the penalty box. Her third goal demonstrated her skill in one-on-one situations, with a well-placed shot to the upper right corner. And for her final goal, she scored from outside the penalty box while enduring a hard foul that knocked her down.

What makes Klammer standout is not just her performance on the field, but also her relentless pressure on the opponents’ defense throughout the game. She is a vocal leader and motivator for her team.

Klammer’s recent offensive surge has also secured her a spot among the elite. She surpassed the 100-point career mark, becoming the ninth Golden Knight to achieve this feat.

Klammer and the Golden Knights will face Southern New Hampshire in their upcoming game on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Plumeri Sports Complex in Albany. Klammer believes the team is in a good position and aims to take it one game at a time for the next three weeks to maintain their winning streak.
