Exclusive: Heartbreaking Account of Pakistani Suspect’s Father in UK Murder of 10-Year-Old Daughter

A Pakistani man whose son is being sought by Pakistani and U.K. police in connection with the death of his 10-year-old daughter in the United Kingdom issued an appeal on Wednesday. He urged his fugitive son to cooperate with investigators and clarify his position instead of going into hiding.

Muhammad Sharif made these remarks after Pakistani authorities expanded their search to arrest his son, Urfan, who fled to Pakistan after the girl, Sara Sharif, was found dead at her home in Woking, on the outskirts of London, on Aug. 10.

London police have identified the girl’s father, Urfan, and his wife Beinash Batool as potential suspects, believed to be hiding in Pakistan. U.K. police are also seeking the arrest of Urfan’s brother, Faisal Malik, in relation to the investigation.

On Wednesday, Sharif told The Associated Press that he had no information about his son’s whereabouts.

He emphasized that his son and daughter-in-law should cooperate with U.K. police. “They should present themselves before the law and clarify their position regarding the incident,” he said, referring to the death of Sara.

According to Sharif, his son had only informed him that an incident had occurred before they lost contact.

An autopsy was unable to determine the cause of death. However, the police statement revealed that Sara had suffered “multiple and extensive injuries, likely inflicted over a prolonged period of time.”

Urfan Sharif, along with Batool and Malik, traveled to Islamabad, the Pakistani capital, on Aug. 9, as confirmed by local authorities. U.K. police and local officials have stated that they were accompanied by five children, ranging from ages 1 to 13.

Local investigators have indicated that Urfan temporarily returned to Jhelum, his family’s home in the eastern Punjab province, before going into hiding.
