Volvo C40 Recharge EV Set to Launch in India on September 4
The highly anticipated launch of Volvo India’s electric car, the Volvo C40 Recharge, is scheduled for September 4. This sleek coupe-styled vehicle is the second electric car to join the company’s Indian lineup and boasts a remarkable driving range of 530 km on a single charge. It will be competing in the premium electric vehicle segment against rivals like the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, BMW I4, and the Volvo XC40 Recharge.
Performance-wise, the Indian version of the Volvo C40 Recharge comes equipped with twin motors, generating an impressive 408PS of power and 660NM of torque. It can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in just 4.7 seconds and has a top speed of 180 kmph. The car is available in both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive options, with a single motor variant also available.
The Volvo C40 Recharge EV features a 78kWh lithium-ion battery pack, offering a generous driving range of 530 km. Charging the car from 10 to 80% with a 150kW DC fast charger takes only 27 minutes, while a full charge with an 11kW level 2 charger takes 7-8 hours.
In terms of design, the Volvo C40 Recharge is a stunning and modern vehicle, incorporating the brand’s signature styling elements. It features an attractive body-colored covered grille, projector LED headlamps, 19-inch diamond cut alloy wheels, and a laminated panoramic roof. The interior is equipped with leather seats, ambient lighting, a 12-inch instrument panel, and a 9-inch center display with built-in Google apps and services.
The Volvo C40 Recharge is also packed with an array of safety features, including a 5-star safety rating from the 2022 Euro NCAP. It offers features like a 360-degree parking view, reverse parking assistant, blind spot information system, lane-keeping assist, and emergency braking.
