Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the president of Ukraine, is scheduled to meet with President Joe Biden during his visit to the U.S. next week, according to a source familiar with Zelenskyy’s plans.
President Biden intends to host Zelenskyy at the White House. Both leaders will be in New York for the annual U.N. General Assembly on Tuesday and Wednesday, so Thursday seems to be the most likely day for their meeting in Washington, D.C.
Zelenskyy’s visit to the capital comes as the Biden administration urges Congress to authorize an additional $13 billion in military funding for Ukraine. During his visit, Zelenskyy will have the opportunity to personally appeal to lawmakers, as reported by the Associated Press. The Ukrainian president may also have other engagements in Washington, D.C.
Scott Pelley of CBS News traveled to Kyiv to interview Zelenskyy, and the interview will be aired on the 56th season premiere of “60 Minutes” this Sunday.
