Ex-Aide Identifies Trump’s Most Alarming Power Move

Former White House Communications Director Alyssa Farah Griffin recently expressed concerns about former President Donald Trump’s reported plan to expand presidential powers if he wins the 2024 election. During an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper, Griffin confirmed the details outlined in a New York Times article that suggested Trump would seek to increase presidential authority over independent sectors of the federal government.

Griffin revealed that many of the proposed changes were ideas Trump had initially wanted to implement during his first term but was dissuaded by aides, including herself, who argued that they would be unpopular with the public and advised him to focus on his reelection campaign instead.

However, the aspect that troubled Griffin the most was Trump’s intention to make it easier to fire career-subject matter experts, which she believes would result in a government staffed solely with loyalists who would further his agenda. The removal of employment protections for civil servants who are meant to be nonpartisan professionals and experts is a dangerous move, particularly in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Griffin.

During her time at the Trump White House, Griffin witnessed firsthand how the former president disregarded the advice of public health experts and made irresponsible statements, such as suggesting the use of disinfectant as a potential cure for the coronavirus.

Griffin emphasized the importance of the Times article’s revelations and urged people to pay attention to its findings. She resigned from the Trump administration after his defeat in the 2020 election and now provides commentary on the ABC panel show “The View.”
