Beatriz and Julie-Yara: A Blind Date Review

What Were You Hoping For?

I was looking forward to a fun and flirty evening, getting to know someone new. My expectations were low, but at the very least, I was relieved that I didn’t have to cook or do the dishes.

First Impressions

Julie-Yara appeared mature and serious, which made me a little uncomfortable initially.

What Did You Talk About?

We delved into deep topics like the Syrian war, sexual assault, being queer, and autism. Needless to say, we didn’t have time to discuss trivial things like favorite colors.

Most Awkward Moment

At one point, I couldn’t hold back my tears when we talked about past trauma. Granted, I had already had a few drinks and wine has a tendency to make me emotional. However, Julie-Yara was incredibly understanding, and the topic of conversation was quite poignant.

Good Table Manners

Both Julie-Yara and our waiter had impeccable table manners.

Best Thing about Julie-Yara

Julie-Yara is truly a passionate humanist, which I found incredibly inspiring.

Would You Introduce Julie-Yara to Your Friends?

I would definitely introduce Julie-Yara to my friends, as I believe they would connect well on political and interest-based discussions.

Describe Julie-Yara in Three Words

Go-getter, intense, caring.

What Do You Think Julie-Yara Made of You?

Julie-Yara probably saw me as someone who’s still maturing and at a different life stage than them.

Did You Go Somewhere after the Date?

We simply parted ways at the tube station.

And… Did You Kiss?

No, the chemistry wasn’t there.

If You Could Change One Thing about the Evening, What Would It Be?

I would have preferred more jokes and laughter, and fewer tears.

Marks out of 10?

7.

Would You Meet Again?

I would, but probably just as friends. Julie-Yara would be an excellent companion for a protest, but not for a romantic date as there wasn’t a spark.
