The world mourns the loss of Ron Cephas Jones, the Emmy Award-winning actor known for his role in the popular television drama “This Is Us.” Jones, 66, passed away, as confirmed by his manager, Dan Spilo.

Jones gained fame for his portrayal of William Hill, a terminally ill recovering drug addict with a bisexual identity, who reunites with his son, played by Sterling K. Brown, in the multi-generational drama “This Is Us.” From 2017 to 2020, he received consecutive Emmy nominations for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series and won the prestigious award in 2018 and 2020.

Jones showcased his talent in various television shows including “Mr. Robot,” “The Get Down,” and “Luke Cage,” and appeared in movies such as “Half Nelson,” “Across the Universe,” “Dog Days,” and “Dolemite Is My Name.” Beyond his on-screen roles, Jones also excelled as a stage actor on and off Broadway, earning a Tony Award nomination in 2022 for his performance as Montrellous in the play “Clyde’s.”

Reflecting on his daughter’s achievement, Jones expressed his profound joy as a parent, stating, “As a parent, that’s the most fulfilling that I could ever feel at the moment. Winning another Emmy is the icing on the cake, but to see my daughter progress and move into this place where she’s earned an Emmy is beyond words.” He added, “To see my daughter become healthy and happy, that’s a parent’s dream.”

In May 2020, Jones underwent a life-saving double-lung transplant due to his battle with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, as reported by The New York Times in 2021.
